The Lord has placed it firmly on the hearts of Lighthouse Ministries International management to pursue God’s order and mandate of discipleship, according to Matthew 28. In other words, to restore God’s order and way of discipleship.

Matthew 28: 18 Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28 is the mandate and the purpose for the Church (the Bride of the Lord) on the earth. And so therefore it is the mandate of Lighthouse Ministries and its partners. The Great Commission speaks prominently of discipleship, and this should be the great work which we should endeavor to fulfil in this day and age. Discipleship is not merely preaching or teaching the word, it is mentoring by showing someone the way of the Lord spiritually and practically. We can only make disciples if we are true disciples ourselves. The Apostle Paul urged believers to imitate his faith. He was not trying to be god, but he was urging followers of Jesus to imitate the strong faith by which Paul walked and talked.

It is all about discipleship. We are called to make disciples and this should be our main focus. To disciple is to lead someone to Jesus, and therefore to the Father. It is about baptizing them not only in the water, but baptizing them in the Spirit of the Living God. For while we are called as disciples to make disciples to teach them the ways and truths of Jesus, we must never forget the Holy Spirit remains our greatest Teacher, Advisor and Counsellor who leads us in all truth.

We need to therefore teach people how to walk in the Spirit, to be led by the Spirit and to be guided by the Spirit. We need to therefore show people how to be a true disciple, how to walk in the ways and truths of Jesus and how to be a living example of what it means to be a disciple (follower) of our Lord.

Again, this should be our main focus. It is about leading people to Jesus, but then to set an example of what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Once they accept Jesus and we have baptized them in water, we need to then walk a path with them and making sure they walk in the Spirit and they are worshippers in Spirit and Truth. This is the simple and clear mandate of Matthews 28. This is what it is all about – it is not about building our own kingdoms or becoming famous or rich, but about making disciples.

We also believe it Isaiah 61 is the mandate of all disciples: The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed and commissioned me to bring good news to the humble and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up [the wounds of] the brokenhearted, To proclaim release [from confinement and condemnation] to the [physical and spiritual] captives And freedom to prisoners, To proclaim [a]the favorable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance and retribution of our God, To comfort all who mourn …

For the mandate of all disciples is also found in Mark 16: 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 He who has believed [in Me] and has been baptized will be saved [from the penalty of God’s wrath and judgment]; but he who has not believed will be condemned. 17 These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.”

Even though Jesus was speaking at the time in Mark 16 to His disciples, He mentioned that those who ‘believe’ shall walk in these signs … this implies all believers who become His disciplines according to Matthew 28. God’s intent has always been for all believers to become active ministers of His Kingdom, preaching the Good News, praying for the sick, setting the captives free and bringing the lost into the Kingdom of God. This is not the duty of the ordained and the educated in theology, but this is the duty of the disciple (the follower and believer of Christ!). We have ALL been called to become mature in Christ, united in one purpose of establishing His Kingdom, and for His Glory to shine!

What has the Lord’s intent been since the birth of the Church? Discipleship!

Lighthouse Ministries will therefore continue more than ever to focus firmly on this mandate. And as disciples we need to walk in God’s Spirit and Truth!

We encourage all believers to seek the Lord, to seek His heart and to go and make disciples. Gather them in fellowship whenever you can, be it in small meetings, and then may the Word be shared, may you encourage one another, may you be led by the Spirit and may there be no lack be found among you.

Our eyes must return to the Kingdom of God, which is not about congregants or how big our churches are or the reputation of our ministry, but it is about making disciples who are trained and equipped in Spirit and Truth. And such disciples follow Jesus and Jesus alone!

May the Lord be with you and carry you by His power and strength.

Mat 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
